The 1989 film

  • Alan Smithee: Delia Ephron who was hired to rewrite Doreen Stone & James David Buchanan's script; took her name off the finished product - she's billed as "Jenny Wolkind".
  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $16 million. Box office, $67,828.
  • Creator Backlash: For Delia Ephron whose first screenwriting job this was. She took her real name off the credits, and it isn't mentioned on her website.
  • Creator Killer: Unsurprisingly co-writer Doreen Stone hasn't had a writing credit since.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: It was actually completed in 1986, but sat on the shelf for three years due to legal issues before getting released...in France. It waited another three years before it got a US release.
