• What Could Have Been: Joy Division collaborator Martin Hannett, who had previously produced U2's second single, "11 O'Clock Tick Tock", was tapped to produce Boy as well. However, the plan fell through both due to the band's poor experiences working with him and due to his anguish over the suicide of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis.
