Trivia / Bob (1992)

Go To

  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: In the description in The Complete Directory to Prime Time and Cable Television, Alvie is described as having a crush on Trisha. It is actually Chad who has the crush, while Albie eventually starts a relationship with her room mate Kathy.
  • The Danza: "Hi, Bob!"
  • Defictionalization: During the run of the series, Marvel Comics printed a Mad Dog comic, complete with Ace Comics logo. In reflection of the series plot, the book was divided into two sections, one half a parody of Golden Age comics with the 1950s version of the character, the other half a parody of ''Dark Knight''-style comic reboots. Also included were a Letters section, and a "From Our Publisher" page authored by Bob McKay.
  • Missing Episode: The show was canceled before all of the episodes aired. The remaining unaired episodes would later air when TV Land reran the series.
  • Playing Against Type: While Bob Newhart's previous sitcom roles were nice guys, Bob McKay is a bit meaner and grumpier.
  • Technology Marches On: When Trisha plans for Bob and Kaye to have a special wedding anniversary in the woods only for them to be late, Kaye asks why they don't just call their guests, Trisha points out that there's not a phone in the woods. In an era where everybody has cell phones, it would be easier to call the guests.
