Trivia / Blitz: The League

Go To

  • Banned in China: The first installment was banned in Australia for depicting the use of anabolic steroids as a stamina booster.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game is legally with Warner Bros. (along with most of Midway's other titles), but because Electronic Arts currently owns the NFL Blitz name, don't expect to see a re-release anytime soon.
  • No Export for You: Likely due to the above, the second installment never saw an official release in Australia.
  • Writer Revolt: The League came to be due to Midway's frustration with the NFL's constant shoulder leaning, telling them what they could and couldn't do, as well as losing the NFL license completely thanks to EA, so they made an original American Football game which entire design philosophy was "if it'll give the NFL an aneurysm, add it". And to really twist the kunai in further, they got the writers for Playmakers, a controversial football show that was also Cut Short thanks to the NFL wanting to protect their brand, to write up the Campaign story lines.
  • What Could Have Been: Blitz: The League was going to receive a port on the Nintendo Wii as a launch title, but was canceled.
