Trivia / Blinky Bill

Go To

  • Acting for Two: The first two seasons of the Yoram Gross series only had TWO voice actors; one male (Keith Scott) and one female (Robyn Moore).
  • Adored by the Network: The UK feed of Cartoon Network loved to air nothing but the 90s series and The Fruitties on weekday mornings until noon from the mid 90's to the mid 2000's.
  • Channel Hop: Seasons 1 and 2 were first aired on The ABC, and season 3 initially aired on Seven Network, however, the third season was eventually rerun on the ABC (along with the first two) in the late 2000s and early-to-mid 2010s.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Robyn Moore as Blinky and Sarah Aubrey as Tico.
  • Dueling Dubs: The series has been dubbed in Finnish twice; the first dub was made in the 1990s, and the redub was made when the series was broadcast on a different channel in the 2000s. The first dub is the most popular in Finland, while the redub is largely unknown.
  • International Coproduction: All three seasons of the classic series were coproduced by Yoram Gross in Australia with WDR and EMTV of Germany.
    • In addition to this, the first season was also produced with the help of The BBC in the UK.
      • The 2015/16 reboot was coproduced by Yoram Gross (under its new name, Flying Bark Productions) and Belgian animation studio Studio100.
  • No Export for You:
    • The third season has never been dubbed or broadcast in Finland, unlike the first two seasons, which is strange considering the immense popularity of the series in the country.
    • Despite the 90s series airing on Malaysian TV (to the point where it was rerun at least twice) and the movie being shown at Malaysian cinemas, the 2015 reboot movie and series are no-show in the country.
  • Recycled: The Series: The TV show is based on, and a continuation of, the 1992 movie (which is sometimes mistaken for The Movie, as the series is far more well-known, but the movie came first), which itself was based on the 1930s books by Dorothy Wall.
  • Outlived Its Creator: Dorothy Wall was already gone for 50 years when Yoram Gross unveiled his take on the franchise. Likewise, while Yoram Gross himself passed on in September 2015, he had already sold his studio to Studio100 before his death, who co-created the 2015 CGI reboot film with Yoram's studio, as well as the film's TV series spinoff. Studio100 now also co-owns the rights to the 1990s series with Yoram Gross.
  • Un-Reboot: As mentioned above, the 1990s animated series got a CGI reboot in 2015, with a new TV series the following year. Despite the reboot's sizeable marketing push, the new movie and series angered many fans of the original, so modern merchandise has recently gone back to using the more-widely accepted 1990s designs of the characters.
