Trivia with Their Own Pages
- Development Hell: A prison sentence for tax evasion held up a fourth film. Though a reboot was on the table once Marvel got the filming rights back from New Line Cinema, and officially announced in July 2019.
- Friendship on the Set: Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson became friends while making the films.
- Role-Ending Misdemeanor: A franchise example. In a rare example of the incapacitation of a key actor doing the dirty work usually reserved for the Grim Reaper, the New Line film series is officially over as a direct result of Wesley Snipes being sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. The reason? The deadline for New Line/Warner Bros. to produce a fourth film before the rights to the franchise reverted to Marvel Studios/The Walt Disney Company passed during this prison term. After Snipes was released, he had talks with Marvel Studios to come back, but efforts didn't pan out. When Marvel did announce their own reboot it would be starring Mahershala Ali, who has been given Snipes' official approval.
