• Enforced Method Acting: The coughing fit that the Bishop of Bath and Wells goes into after proclaiming that Blackadder's bottom will wish it had never been born was the result of actor Ronald Lacey, who was experiencing major health problems at the time, delivering the line with such force that it caused him to go into a genuine coughing fit before the take ended. The director decided against asking for a retake, as she felt it would be unfair to Lacey, and knew that they probably weren't going to get a better take than that regardless.
