  • Trent Reznor, who co-composed the film's score with fellow Nine Inch Nails member Atticus Ross, accused lazy sound mixers and editors of ruining their score, calling it a “fucking waste of time.” It would take almost a year following this for the two to create their "definitive" version of the score, with no less than 13 additional tracks.
    Reznor: When we got immersed in it, it felt like some people were phoning it in…. And you’re stuck with a film editor who had real bad taste. That’s kind of our barricade to getting stuff in the film. And the final icing on the shit cake was we were on tour when they mixed it. And they mixed the music so low, you couldn’t hear it anyway. So it was like, that was a … (laughs) That was a fucking waste of time. Then we thought, no one’s going to see this fucking movie. And, of course, it’s the hugest movie ever in Netflix.
  • Actress Rosa Salazar (Lucy) also admitted disappointment that most of her scenes were cut from the final version.
• Dueling Movies: With A Quiet Place, another 2018 horror film which has a similar premise, except that the monsters hunt via sound rather than sight.
• Money, Dear Boy: Trent Reznor admitted that he scored the movie for the sake of paycheck.
• Queer Character, Queer Actor: B.D. Wong is gay, like his character Greg.
• What Could Have Been: There was a scene where the creatures would appear. According to Sandra Bullock, it looks like a very tall man with a baby-like face. The decision was made to cut the scene because the design was incredibly ridiculous rather than scary. Bullock said that she wanted to be surprised when shooting the scene, but that she almost laughed when seeing the creature, describing it as a "tall fat baby". Part of the reason why the creature looked so silly was because they had planned to make the monster partially using CGI. Most of the monster's costume was actually supposed to be the area where they would have added the digital part of the monster later if they hadn't cut the scene.
