Trivia / Billie Kay

Go To

  • Actor-Inspired Element: The 'Billie' part of her name was her idea, inspired by Billie Piper.
  • Breakup Breakout:
    • Initially she filled the 'Janetty' role in this when the Pink Ladies split. Madison Eagles became SHIMMER Champion and was voted number 1 on the PWI Female 50 in 2011 - the first time an indie wrestler had claimed the title. But Jessie McKay was eventually signed to WWE so she has the chance to overcome this.
    • She appears to be benefiting from this a second time since the breakup of the Iiconics, as despite the split apparently happening to allow Peyton Royce to be pushed as a singles wrestler, Billie Kay has received a prominent comedic role on SmackDown with The Riott Squad that has been very well received for playing to her strengths on the mic, while Peyton’s singles push failed to materialize and she was put in a team with Lacey Evans.
  • Creator's Pest: Supposedly her 2021 release was down to executive Kevin Dunn "not getting" her and declaring that he thought she "had a ceiling" in the company. This was in spite of positive fan reactions and being well liked in the locker room. There was also reports that Kevin Dunn was not a fan of non-American accents - and he came under fire in 2016 for being rumored to not like Becky Lynch's Irish accent.
  • He Also Did: McKay has done independent films on the side.
  • Playing Against Type: She was pretty much always a face on the indies - and a Cute Bruiser at that. This makes her Femme Fatale character on NXT extremely different.
  • Throw It In!:
    • She and Peyton did a joke pose as a Shout-Out to 10 Things I Hate About You while shooting a promo on NXT. Xavier Woods apparently loved it and told them to do it all the time, and it became a signature pose.
    • The resume gimmick was something that was originally just a one-off - handing her resume to Adam Pearce after being drafted to Smackdown. She then decided to make it a regular thing.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • She and Peyton Royce wrestled one match wearing co-ordinated gear as a babyface tag team, with reports saying that they had been teaming on live events. This was dropped and they didn't team together until much later, now as heels.
    • She worked a few live events playing the girlfriend of Sylvester Lefort. This was of course dropped when he was released, and it never made it to TV.
