Trivia / Beyond The Portal

Go To

  • Actor Existence Limbo: Characters in a scene can be quiet and not react to what is happening, due to differing time zones and obligations of the players.
  • The Character Died with Him: Downplayed. When a player leaves the server, their character is retired and returns to the Old World.
  • Character Outlives Actor: Downplayed. When a GM becomes inactive or leaves the server, their NPCs can still be used in play.
  • Development Hell: Changes to the server and homebrew mechanics can take weeks of deliberation before being released.
  • Shrug of God: The nature of the Old World is intentionally kept vague for the purpose of allowing player characters relative freedom of backstory. Gods, cultures and locations from Pathfinder's standard setting of Golarion are all used frequently, but new areas, peoples, and even implied states of the world are commonly introduced in backstories based on the whims of players, and the Old World has specifically been noted to not necessarily be Golarion on several occasions. As the Old World is rarely ever the focus of the server and for the most part is never seen, this usually doesn't cause problems.
