Trivia / Better Call Saul S6 E13: "Saul Gone"

Go To

  • Character Outlives Actor: Ed Galbraith, the vacuum cleaner repairman/professional vanisher played by the late Robert Forster (who passed away the day El Camino premiered). Saul prepares to call Ed for another pickup but never actually gets in touch with him, leaving the character's fate unknown In-Universe.
  • Development Gag: Before this episode, there were plans to bring Marie Schrader into Better Call Saul as early as Season 2.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Similarly to "Breaking Bad", Bryan Cranston shot his cameo months before filming actually began on the series finale (due to his limited window of availability).
    • The flashback with Jimmy and Chuck happens solely in Chuck's kitchen due to the fact that not only was the rest of the set for Chuck's house scrapped following the character's death, but much of it had already been deliberately destroyed during the filming of "Lantern". It takes place at night with only Chuck's gas lantern as lighting, most likely to hide that the rest of the house isn't actually there note , and possibly also to hide Michael McKean's aging.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Saul's scene with Walter in Ed Galbraith's bunker was originally intended to appear in Breaking Bad itself, but it had to be scrapped due to time constraints.
  • Role Reprise: Betsy Brandt reprises her role as Marie Schrader, having last played the role nine years ago in Breaking Bad's finale "Felina".
  • What Could Have Been: According to Gould, the show originally ended with Jimmy in a holding cell, scared about jail, but he decided ending it on Jimmy and Kim and their remade but bittersweet connection.
