Trivia / Beowulf

• Missing Episode: Some scholars have read into the various tales of Beowulf's past achievements to conclude that there were more episodes to this saga that were either lost by the time the poem was written or simply neglected by the writer. It's also suggested that Beowulf was killed by the dragon as a way to finish off the series. This is not helped by the fact that the only manuscript of the story in the Nowell Codex was damaged in a fire at the Cotton Library that destroyed and damaged other manuscripts; Beowulf's missing chapters and contemporaries may have well perished in the same fire.
