Trivia / Ben 10: Ultimate Alien

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Bivalvan, P'andor, Ra'ad, and Andreas are all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. Galapagus is the only one not voiced by Baker, and is instead voiced by John DiMaggio, though DiMaggio voices both Galapagus and Aggregor.
  • Author's Saving Throw: Finally, a plausible explanation for Kevin's inexplicable change in character is given. Funnily enough, way back during Alien Force, Word of God's explanation for why Kevin didn't absorb energy anymore was that he was "scared to," which suggests they already had this planned. Several sources suggest they would have used it in season 3 of Alien Force but were unable to because of Executive Meddling.
  • Creator's Pest: Aggregor is fairly popular amongst the fans for being an extremely competent villain, but the writing staff apparently dislikes him, and the one who came up with his design even admitted being embarrassed with it. He apparently was going to have a minor role for the Rooter story arc in Ben 10: Omniverse (where he was going to be killed off, with that), but the idea was dropped because the writers were in no hurry to bring him back.
  • The Danza: In Poland, Julie is played by Julia Kolakowska.
  • Died During Production: Dwayne McDuffie had died partway through the series. Didn't prevent the show's continuation and eventual sequel series, though, and all 52 episodes for UA had already been fully planned out before his passing.....though, for some reason or other, many plot threads brought up were left completely unresolved by Episode 52 (the arcs centering around Elena, Charmcaster, and King Viktor being the most noteworthy) and likely never will be due to Dwayne's passing and the franchise being rebooted.
  • Fandom Nod: "Y'know, after all the hype, the Alien X smoothie was a real disappointment. Kind of tastes like filler."
    • Fourarms tells Captain Nemesis that shouting out his name is "stupid."
    • 10-year-old Ben's reaction to Swampfire: "Plant guy? That's just a copy of Wildvine."
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Zombozo was voiced by John DiMaggio, rather than John Kassir.
    • Rojo's cameo appearance in one of the episodes has her voiced by Kari Wahlgren rather than Jennifer Hale, and said episode prominently featured Charmcaster, who's voiced by the former.
    • Bellicus and Serena go from Kevin Conroy and Vicki Lewis to Jeff Bennett and Tara Strong.
    • 10-year-old Heatblast and Four Arms go from being voiced by Steve Blum and Richard McGonagle to Dee Bradley Baker and John DiMaggio respectively.
    • Chris Pratt takes over for Corey Padnos following Cooper's growth spurt in between his last appearance in Alien Force and his first appearance here.
  • Out of Order: The airing order of Season 3, particularly the latter half, is full of this. Ben and the gang find out about Old George and Diagun in the middle of the season, having already known about the Flame Keeper's Circle and Ben readily using Fasttrack, Clockwork, and Eatle like he has used them plenty before. After those episodes, we get Ben and the gang being introduced to the Flame Keeper's Circle, as well as proper debuts for Fasttrack, Eatle, and Clockwork. At the start of the finale, Ben states that it's been "two weeks" between "A Solitary Alignment" and "Beginning of the End" despite there being six episodes in between. The two Charmcaster episodes are also clearly not supposed to be watched one right after the other, as "Couples Retreat" implies that it's been some time after "The Enemy of My Frenemy."
  • Playing Against Type: As mentioned in The Other Darrin, John DiMaggio as Zombozo, in what almost seems like practice for another role.
  • Recycled Script: The plot for "Inspector 13" seems fairly similar to the Original Series episode "Secrets," down to Ben’s arm being at the risk of being cut off for his watch.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Kevin becoming evil and energy-hungry was supposed to be part of season three of Alien Force. It was scrapped late in development but implemented for this series.
  • Role Reprise: In addition to the returning cast from Ben 10: Alien Force.
    • Tara Strong as 10 year old Ben.
    • Richard Doyle as Forever King Driscoll.
    • Dee Bradley Baker was able to reprise 10-year-old Stinkfly and Wildmutt in "The Forge of Creation."
  • Technology Marches On: With the advent of smartphones, Jimmy could've easily live-streamed his investigation (or recorded it with his phone in good quality) in "The Big Story" without needing a handheld camera. He also could have taken pictures with it rather than his regular camera.
  • Troubled Production: The Latin American dub had quality issues since in the year 2011, the dubbing studio 'Sensaciones Sónicas' was sold by its original owner to the Urban family, who had no prior experience in managing dubbing studios. This resulted in the studio's director, Claudia Urbán, taking cost-cutting measures such as RECORDING DUBS WITHOUT A DIRECTOR, leading 90% of the voice actors working for the studio to resign, as it became very difficult for them to perform their work without guidance. Things only worsened when Claudia Urbán decided to hire her own family members as voice actors, resulting in the series having a very low-quality dub with a severely reduced number of actors. Cartoon Network had to threaten the studio with a lawsuit due to the poor dubbing quality, which prompted them to bring back a director, leading to an improvement in quality. To no one's surprise, the dubbing of Omniverse (along with the rest of the Cartoon Network series at that time) was moved to another studio after the contract between Cartoon Network and Sensaciones Sónicas expired.
  • What Could Have Been: Enough for its own page.
  • Word of God: Dwayne McDuffie had started a new thread for Ultimate Alien and any remaining Alien Force questions… up until he died, at least.
