Trivia / Baretta

  • Executive Meddling: The reason the first season had an instrumental theme instead of the vocal version heard from season two onwards is because of this; star Robert Blake had gotten the ball rolling for what ultimately became "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow" by Dave Grusin and Morgan Ames, but it was nixed because (so the powers that be told Ames and company) "you can't open a white show with a black singer." (The '80s showed that Times had changed since then.) Several high viewing figures later the song got vocals (by Sammy Davis Jr., instead of original singer Jim Gilstrap).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Most of the series has never been officially released on DVD or on any streaming service. Only a season 1 DVD exists in the United States, meaning the vast majority of episodes can't be obtained legally.
  • Pet Fad Starter: The series caused a surge in the popularity of sulphur-crested cockatoos as pets (like the one Baretta has). Unfortunately, a lot of people undoubtedly regretted the decision to purchase one, as the birds can be troublesome, loud, demanding pets who chew on just about any solid material they can get their beaks on.
