Fake Nationality: Mira Sorvino (American) and Tushka Bergen (Australian/English) as Spaniards Marta and Montserrat.
Inspiration for the Work: Whit Stillman says he came up with the concept because he liked the title of An Officer and a Gentleman, but was disappointed when he found out it wasn't actually referring to two different characters, so he decided to write a script that matched the title.
The album:
Cut Song: "Africa by Night" was written during the sessions for Barcelona, but was ultimately left off. It would later be reconfigured with the other members of Queen as "All God's People" for inclusion on Innuendo.
What Could Have Been: Freddie and the producers strongly considered recording the instrumentals with an orchestra but ultimately chickened out and went with synthesizers instead. The 2012 re-release featured the orchestral arrangements they'd thought of having for the original.
