Trivia / Bad Grandpa

Go To

  • Completely Different Title: In Latin America the film is named El Abuelo Sinverguenza (The Shameless Grandpa) and in Japan is named Jackass: Kuso-Jijii America Oudan Chin-Douchuu (Jackass: Our Journey Across America with a Fuckin' Geezer).
  • Deleted Scene: Scenes featuring Spike Jonze (reprising his Gloria character from Jackass 2) and Catherine Keener (as Irving's wife Ellie) were both cut from the finished film, although they both are in the closing credits.
    • These are featured in full in Bad Grandpa .5, which sews the deleted scenes together loosely in additional to gag reels and behind the scenes footage.
  • Enforced Method Acting: As is always the case, given the public interacting with Johnny Knoxville doesn't know they're being filmed for maximum effect; the most notable instance in Bad Grandpa's case would be the guy at the diner confronting Irving about his demolishing a plastic penguin mascot. As Bad Grandpa .5 shows, the guy was just about ready to knock Johnny's block off, which - naturally - was perfect for filming.
  • In Memoriam: The films ends with a dedication to Jackass star Ryan Dunn.
  • Underage Casting: Johnny Knoxville is much younger than Irving Zisman, the character he plays in the film.
