Trivia / Avatar: The Last Airbender - "The Ember Island Players"

Go To

  • Development Gag:
    • Aang being played by a woman is a reference to the creators being pressured by the studio to cast one as Aang's voice actor instead of an actual preteen boy as they wound up doing with Zach Tyler Eisen.
    • Toph was originally designed as a muscular man (her original design being the Earthbender from the opening). Then the creators thought it would be funnier if she were a little girl and it changed. Toph's portrayal in the play is as a muscular man.
  • Fandom Nod: The play makes many references to fandom, such as the prevalence of the Zuko-Katara ship, confusion over Jet and Combustion Man's deaths, the general antipathy towards The Great Divide, and a bunch of other in-jokes.
  • Missing Episode: This episode was sometimes missing through Nicktoons reruns, likely due to the fact they reran the episodes in batches of even numbers and the series was 61 episodes. Though they would sometimes play the Avatar Extras version.
  • Real-Life Relative: The Ember Island Player version of Zuko is played by Derek Basco is the voice of Actor Zuko, the brother Dante Basco who voices actual Zuko.
