- Actor Allusion: It's fitting that Female Shepard is the Avatar, seeing as how Jennifer Hale (Female Shepard's VA) was also the voice of Avatar Kyoshi in the original series.
- When Bei-Li shows up again in chapter 44, his disguise is that he looks like he's balding and has a flesh-colored eyepatch- which is a pretty blatant reference to Colonel Saul Tigh, whose actor (Michael Hogan) was the voice of Captain Bailey in the Mass Effect games.
- One quarian marine (strongly implied to be Kal'Reegar) hears Garrus talking about Feros, and how "Naked asari clones were crawling all over him," and the marine mutters "I'll be in my bunk." Jayne Cobb and Kal'Reegar share the same voice actor/regular actor.
