• Executive Meddling: For the good. The character's entire existence is because Michaud called Doug and ordered him to do something like Ask a Ninja.
• Lying Creator: In 2012, Doug kept on saying there'll be more Ask That Guy episodes, even talking about him in con analyzing, but it never came. In 2013 charity drive, he attributed it to people demanding Critic and only Critic, and late 2014 was a rushed finale where the character died.
• Reality Subtext: His first proud Card-Carrying Villain moment ever (raising a fist and saying “hail Satan”) came in episode four, after he tells someone to ruin a girl's life (with blackmail or rumors) because she didn't date them. As shown in many later vlogs and the Hyper storyline, trying to force someone to love you or shaming them because they don't, is a big bugbear of Doug's.
