Trivia / Arthur and the Invisibles

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In the uncut English version of the first movie, Doug Rand both plays Arthur's dad and voices Betameche.
  • Adored by the Network: This film used to be played every weekend during the early days of Disney XD.
  • All-Star Cast: Freddie Highmore, Robert De Niro, Madonna, David Bowie, Jason Bateman, Snoop Dogg... and even some of the sequels' Poor Man's Substitute were Iggy Pop and Selena Gomez!
  • Bad Export for You:
    • The Weinstein release cut out all of the "questionable" content, including some important plot points, leaving several egregious jump cuts. This to the point where the entire romance between Selenia and Arthur is completely taken out, making her sudden attraction to him at the last minutes seem to come out of nowhere.
    • In the U.K. and Ireland, the second and third films were trimmed down and merged together into one film titled Arthur and the Great Adventure. This cut is rife with sloppy editing, continuity errors, and some Brick Jokes coming off as Big Lipped Alligator Moments due to many of the cut scenes removing either the setup or punchline.
  • California Doubling: The third film clearly takes place in America yet it is filmed in France.
  • Completely Different Title: The French vs. English-language title.
  • Late Export for You: The uncut version of the first film was released in 2021 on Disney+ and briefly on Youtube in the US and the UK after the Weinstein scandal.
  • The Other Darrin: In the second and third films, Maltazard and Princess Selenia, who were voiced by David Bowie and Madonna respectively in the first film, are instead voiced by Lou Reed and Selena Gomez.
    • Even more if you watch the Weinstein cut of the first movie, Beta was voiced by Jimmy Fallon and Darkos was voiced by Jason Bateman.
    • Also, Darkos, who was voiced by Christian Erickson or Jason Bateman in the Weinstein dub of the first film, was instead voiced by Iggy Pop in the third film. The difference is very noticeable.
    • Arthur's Dad, Armand, played by Doug Rand in the first movie, and Robert Stanton in the sequels.
  • The Other Marty: Betameche was originally voiced by Doug Rand in the first movie's previously unreleased English dub, but was replaced by Jimmy Fallon for Weinstein's release.
    • A similar situation with Darkos, originally voiced by Christian Erickson, but replaced by Jason Bateman.
  • Playing Against Type: In the French version, GĂ©rard Darmon as Malthazard is quite a departure from his previous comedic roles. While he played a villain in the comedy Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (Criminalis), Malthazard is a way more serious kind of foe.
