• Sequel Gap: Or Prequel Gap. The first game (Glorified tech demo or not) set in the Portal universe in 11 years.
• Refitted for Sequel: The idea of Cave Johnson being uploaded into an immobile robot body and then abandoned and forgotten for years, leaving him pleading for you to unplug him so he can die, was originally a story concept for Portal 2. In that game, he would've been found in a cube in Old Aperture, and the player would've had to unplug him to use his body as a step-stool to escape.
• Role Reprise: J. K. Simmons reprises his role as Cave Johnson 11 years after the character's debut appearance in Portal 2.
