  • All-Star Cast: The anime approaches this, featuring seiyuu both well-known at the time (Kotono Mitsuishi as Shouko, Kikuko Inoue as Shuuko, Tomokazu Seki as Ogata, Houko Kuwashima as Sai, Yuri Shiratori as Hatoko, Masaya Onosaka as Icchan, Yui Horie as Hiromi Fujimori and Kappei Yamaguchi as one-shot character Ryou Misaki, and a number of up-and-comers who eventually gained stardom in their own right: Soichiro Hoshi as Oujiro, Jun Fukuyama as Kotarou, Ayako Kawasumi as Kaede, and Kana Ueda as Ringo.
  • Directed by Cast Member: David Williams directed the English dub and voiced Tamayo's father.
  • Late Export for You: The series didn't reach Germany until 2005, four years after its Japanese premiere.
  • Milestone Celebration: For the anime's 10th anniversary celebration in 2010, Avex re-released the series on a Blu-ray and DVD box set.

  • So My Kids Can Watch: Some of the English voice actors signed onto the project for this reason after being in violent series like Noir.
  • Written by Cast Member: In the English dub, Tiffany Grant was the ADR writer as well as Sai Jounouchi's voice actress.
  • You Sound Familiar:
    • In the Japanese version:
      • Kaori Mizuhashi voiced Hijiri Shibata in episode 7 and would later go on to voice Tomo's sister in episode 19.
      • Masayo Kurata voiced minor roles including one of the kindergarten children Misaki encounters in episode 1, as well as one of Kyoko's followers.
      • Yoshiyuki Kono, the voice of the tournament's host, would later go on to voice Shuji Inada.
      • Kikuko Inoue voices Shuuko, and was also Chitose in Chobits, with which it shares a universe (at least in the original manga). Looks like Icchan Has a Type.
    • In the English dub:
      • Monica Rial (Tamayo) voiced one of the kindergarten children Misaki encounters in episode 1.
      • Tiffany Grant also voiced one of the kindergarten children in episode 1, as well as Misataro.
      • Besides voicing Rin Jounouchi and Hiromi Fujimori, Allison Sumrall voiced Tomo's sister in episode 19.
