• Acting for Two: Angelus and Faith share a dream/vision where they watch Angel's tormented past. At the end, the memory of Angel becomes an active participant and physically fights Angelus (both played by David Boreanaz).
• Creator Backlash: In the audio commentary, Joss Whedon apologises for the design of Cordelia's weird, black dress at the end of the episode, as well as Charisma Carpenter having to wear it for three more episodes. It was apparently decided through email with a vague description, without Joss having seen the design yet.
• Creator's Favorite Episode: David Boreanaz named this as one of his favourite episodes.
• Deleted Scene: Additional scenes showing Angel and Faith reliving portions of "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been" had to be cut due to length.
• Distanced from Current Events: The first airing of this episode (on March 19, 2003) was cut short due to the announcement of the US invasion of Iraq. As a result, the episode was rerun the following week. This was the second time Angel had been affected by The War on Terror; the original airing of "Heartthrob" had been postponed two weeks after the 9/11 attacks.
• Real-Life Relative: The guy who played the robber in the 70's flashback is Eliza Dushku's brother, Nate.
