• B-Team Sequel: Unlike the two previous installment, the film was composed by David Buckley, who later scored Roman Waugh’s next film, Greenland.
• California Doubling: The UK standing in for Pennsylvania.
• Irony as She Is Cast: Nick Nolte plays an Ex-Vietnam War veteran in this movie. In Real Life, he never had a chance to go to Vietnam war due to a felony case years before. However, he felt incomplete for not being able to do so since at that time, he felt obligated to fight in Vietnam War as a young man.
• Money, Dear Boy: Like with the first two films, Morgan Freeman has openly admitted in interviews that he did this movie mainly for the money. As he explained for the previous two: "Money. It's the third in a franchise, it pays better than the first one. I get to play the president again, I'm in a successful franchise, I'm working with a guy I really admire and like. It's perfect." When asked whether he still felt "fire in his belly" with regards to acting, he said: "I enjoy it, I still enjoy it. I love making movies, but it's more like smouldering embers now."
• The Other Darrin: Piper Perabo replaces Radha Mitchell as Leah Banning for this film.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, Holt McCallany was going to play Wade Jennings, but he was replaced by Danny Huston.
