Trivia / An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • The CD releases of More of Tom Lehrer are all in mono, so collectors who insist on a stereo version must track down the original stereo LP.
    • The stereo mix of An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer was in limbo for several years. For some reason, Reprise Records only had access to the mono master, so their 1966 reissue was initially in mono only, with a fake stereo version being created a few years later by adding echo to the mono tracks. The initial 1990 CD issue used the fake stereo mix, but after several complaints from Lehrer, it was remastered using the mono mix. It wasn't until The Remains of Tom Lehrer box set was released in 2000 that the album was available in true stereo on CD.
  • Science Marches On: Some live versions of "The Elements" are followed with what Lehrer claims are the original lyrics by Aristotle:
There's earth and air and fire and water (song ends)
