Trivia / All-Star Comics

Go To

  • Post-Release Retitle: All-Star Comics was an Anthology Comic that shifted towards being a Justice Society of America comic, before getting retitled All-Star Western and turned into a cowboy-themed anthology comic at issue #57 in 1951.
  • What Could Have Been: There was evidence of four Gardner Fox stories being written which were never published, titled “Emperors of Japan”, “The Will of William Wilson”, “Men of Magnifica” and “Perils of the Paper Death”. Speculation has matched up details. "Emperors of Japan" would have been a companion piece to "This is our enemy", which showed the warlike history of Germany and would have been about Japan. However Japan's surrender meant this story was no longer necessary. Perils of the Paper Death is thought to have been rewritten into “The Paintings that walked the Earth”. “Men of Magnifica” might have been adapted into "Five Drowned Men", it is speculated that this story was already significantly rewritten to accommodate Batman and Superman in place of the Atom and Johnny Thunder. "The Will of William Wilson" has had pages turn up over the years of original art, enabling people to put together it would have featured the return of the Pyscho Pirate tricking the Justice Society into trying to complete impossible tasks, like going to the Moon, recovering a Dodo egg and finding Genghis Khan's sword.
