- Official Fan-Submitted Content: The names of the four prehistoric mobs to be introduced in the upcoming Bygone Beasts update were submitted by community members and chosen by the developers. The winning names were Froststalker, Tusklin, Lavathian, and Cosmaw.
- Trolling Creator: Both Alex and Carro like to screw with the community, especially on their Discord server. The Mungus' addition as a whole was basically meant to screw with the fandom.
- What Could Have Been: The Mungus was originally going to be either a neutral or hostile mob. Instead of its current Gag Nose, it would have had an otherwise-hidden mouth that it would attack the player with, similar to an Enderman's and/or an Impostor's. Additionally, its relationship to Striders and Straddlers was originally more pronounced, with longer legs made of basalt.
