  • Creator Backlash:
    • Christopher Bowes has expressed embarrassment at the latter half of the band's first album, Captain Morgan's Revenge. In particular, he hates "Set Sail and Conquer" and especially "Death Before the Mast", on which he described his vocals as a "stupid warbly low voice", and was incredulous that there were "people who insist that forgotten thrash songs from our first album are our very best."
    • On a social media post commemorating the tenth anniversary of their second album, Black Sails at Midnight, the band described it as "featuring everyone's favourite songs such as Keelhauled and... uhhhh, Keelhauled", and stated that they didn't think it was worth releasing a remaster for it, like they did with their first album.
  • He Also Did: Christopher Bowes is the keyboard player of Power Metal band Gloryhammer and Máté is the guitarist and primary songwriter of the Progressive Metal band All But One.
  • Magnum Opus Dissonance:
    • According to Christopher Bowes, the band and the label were banking on the most popular songs from Curse of the Crystal Coconut being "Treasure Chest Party Quest", "Fannybaws" and in particular the Nu Metal throwback "Tortuga", to the point where in anticipation of the latter's popularity, Napalm Records re-signed the band Rumahoy to their label just because their singer had a guest verse. However, Bowes noted that these tracks ended up receiving a lukewarm reception, specifically admitting that "Fannybaws" '""probably isn't that good"'', and that he was surprised by the popularity of more throwaway tracks on the album like "Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship".
    • Bowes' Creator Backlash above against the first two albums also flies in the face of many fans and critics finding those two to be the band's best (as Bowes himself acknowledges).
  • Meme Acknowledgment: The Limited Edition version of Back Through Time includes a cover of "You Are a Pirate".
  • More Popular Spin Off: Before Alestorm, Christopher was the keyboard player and programmer of Splen. The band broke up years before Alestorm's rise in popularity. Christopher has posted some old Splen songs on his Youtube page.
  • Similarly Named Works: Alestorm and Halestorm. Alestorm once replaced Halestorm on the bill when they had to pull out of Vagos Open Air 2015, and they've expressed interest in touring together at some point.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Interviews revealed that "Shit Boat (No Fans)" was initially a diss track meant for another band, and the original lyrics were so vulgar and offensive the band was advised by the manager to tone it down or they might get into serious trouble. The band ended up changing the lyrics to talk about another pirate ship instead.
    • The 10th anniversary edition of Captain Morgan's Revenge was supposed to have been fully re-recorded with live brass and folk instruments replacing the cheap synths found on the original record, but the band opted to just remix the existing tracks instead to avoid potential backlash from die-hard fans.
