Trivia / Ahsoka

Go To

For the Star Wars: Ahsoka novel, see here.

  • Acting for Two: Temuera Morrison voices all the clones, including Captain Rex for the first time in "Shadow Warrior".
  • Actor-Inspired Element:
  • Approval of God: Vanessa Marshall, the original voice actor for Hera Syndulla, expressed her excitement for the show online after the first trailer dropped.
  • Enforced Method Acting: The mutual joy Ahsoka and Anakin share when meeting each other in the World Between Worlds had a lot of authentic feeling behind it, as Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen were once fellow classmates in a California acting school, and so were genuinely happy to see each other for the first time in years.
  • Fake American: The Australian-born Natasha Liu Bordizzo uses an American accent to play the Mandalorian Sabine Wren.
  • In Memoriam: The first episode ends with a dedication to Baylon's actor Ray Stevenson, who passed away in May 2023.
    For our friend, Ray
  • Lying Creator: Prior to the revelation of his Role Reprise as Thrawn, Lars Mikkelsen claimed that he had not been approached to return, but was willing to do so if asked.
  • No Stunt Double: Rosario Dawson did all of her own lightsaber fighting as Ahsoka.
  • The Other Darrin: The trailer shows that several characters from Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars are appearing in this show, and are being portrayed by physical actors different from their original voice actors.
    • Natasha Liu Bordizzo plays Sabine Wren rather than Tiya Sircar.
    • Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Hera Syndulla instead of Vanessa Marshall.
    • Eman Esfandi takes over the role of Ezra Bridger from Taylor Gray.
    • Temuera Morrison (who had previously played Commander Cody and the other clones, along with their progenitor Jango Fett, in the Prequel Trilogy and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as Boba Fett in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett) plays Captain Rex in lieu of Dee Bradley Baker, though we don’t see his face.
    • Nelson Lee plays Senator Xiono instead of Tzi Ma, who voiced the character on Star Wars Resistance.
    • Vinny Thomas plays Jai Kell instead of Dante Basco.
    • In the Latin American Spanish dub, some of the actors from previous Star Wars movies and shows don't return to reprise their roles which includes:
      • Sabine Wren is now voiced by Samanta Figueroa instead of Constanza Lechuga.
      • Ezra Bridger is now voiced by José Antonio Toledano instead of Memo Aponte.
      • Huyang is now voiced by Manuel Campuzano instead of Rubén Trujillo, though Trujillo would voice the character in the trailers.
      • Ryder Azadi is now voiced by Raúl Solo instead of Guillermo Coria.
      • C-3PO is now voiced by Roberto Gutiérrez instead of Carlos del Campo, marking the first time Carlos doesn't voice C-3PO since the dub of the Original Trilogy 1997 special editions.
  • Posthumous Credit: Ray Stevenson died a few months before the release of Ahsoka, which is one of the last works he appeared in.
  • Production Posse:
  • Promoted Fanboy: In a sense. Hayden Christensen watched both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels to help rediscover who Anakin was, and admitted that he enjoyed them greatly (giving props to the bulk of work Matt Lanter gave Anakin throughout its run). Now he gets to portray Anakin in this series, which is a spinoff of both shows.
  • Real-Life Relative:
  • Reality Subtext: Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen had attended the same acting school in California together when they were both teenagers, where they became very close friends. As such, their previously-established relationship allowed them truly bring Anakin and Ahsoka's master-apprentice dynamic into live-action and make it all the more meaningful and authentic.
  • Refitted for Sequel: "Where the Sun Sails and the Moon Walks", a music piece intended for the Rebels season 2 finale that was ultimately cut, is used for the ending of "The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord".
  • Role Reprise:
    • David Tennant returns to voice Professor Huyang 11 years after Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
    • Lars Mikkelsen returns to portray Grand Admiral Thrawn in the flesh after having previously only voicing the character in Rebels, though there is an interesting twist in this case. As Lars revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2023, while he was recording voice lines for Rebels remotely from his native Denmark, Dave Filoni kept asking if he'd ever been to Los Angeles and if he would be willing to come. Evidently, the plan was always for Lars to portray him in both animation and live-action since 2016 (hence the Ink-Suit Actor quality of his design on Rebels). Animation simply happened to have come first.
    • After the character was already a case of Ink-Suit Actor, Clancy Brown makes his live-action debut as Ryder Azadi after voicing him in Rebels.
    • A photo of Kanan is seen in the cockpit of the Ghost in several episodes albeit from a distance and never in focus. It would later be confirmed after the first season that it was his voice actor Freddie Prinze Jr. posing for the picture, making him the only actor who played a human or humanoid (like Hera) to reprise their role for live-action to datenote .
    • In the Japanese dub, all the returning characters from Rebels and The Clone Wars has their respective voice actors reprising their roles (Shizuka Itō as Ahsoka, Jin Yamanoi as the Grand Admiral Thrawn and Kenji Nojima as Ezra Bridger).
    • In the Hungarian dub, the only returning voice actors are those of Ahsoka, Grand Admiral Thrawn and characters who have appeared in previous live action films or series, like Anakin or Mon Mothma. Though other characters kept their cartoon dubbing actors for the promo trailer, they were recast for the series itself.
    • The Latin American Spanish dub has Leyla Rangel, Tatul Bernodat, Santos Alberto, José Luis Orozco, Bruno Coronel and Óscar Rangel reprise their roles as Ahsoka, Hera, Thrawn, Captain Rex, Jai Kell and Hamato Xiono from their animated appearances.
  • Sequel in Another Medium: It's basically a live-action series sequel to the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
  • Similarly Named Works: Shares its title with the 2016 Star Wars: Ahsoka novel, which is also part of the new Star Wars Expanded Universe and set earlier, during the rise of the Empire.
  • Teasing Creator: Temuera Morrison had previously expressed interest in portraying Rex in live-action during various interviews and when asked by fans, but never explicitly confirmed he would ever do it. He would eventually be revealed to be portraying Rex in this show.
  • What Could Have Been: Mena Massoud auditioned to play Ezra Bridger, which would have been rather ironic considering that Ezra was originally compared to the titular lead of Aladdin, whom Massoud had played in the live-action remake. Ultimately, the role went to Eman Esfandi.
  • Word of God: A few weeks after Chapter 2's release, Lucasfilm released a statement confirming that the final scene of the episode was a deliberate Shot-for-Shot Remake of the epilogue scene in the final episode of Star Wars Rebels, albeit with some slight retcons.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Natasha Liu Bordizzo has stated that the series takes place at the same time as the third season of The Mandalorian. This is confirmed in the seventh episode, when Moff Gideon's machinations on Mandalore are raised at Hera's court martial. She also claims that Sabine sees Ezra as a brother, which seems to supposedly eliminate the possibility that she is in love with him, yet the fact she also compared Sabine to Anakin Skywalker (who was in love with Padme) puts this claim into Quesiton.
