  • Author's Saving Throw: During an interview with TVGuide, Adam Muto revealed that those who didn't get focus (such as FP and HW) or had little focus in the finale already got closure along with their respective plot points (such as Finn's relationship with HW, FP and her issues with her father, Jake and his alien lineage, Marcy and her father) in previous episodes so that the finale wouldn't be cramped.
Adam Muto: A lot of the episodes leading up to [the finale], we were trying to use to serve as the last episode for that particular character so we wouldn't have to cram too much in at the very end here. So there are scenes, but we already had our last major Lumpy Space Princess episode by the time we get to the end, and our last Flame Princess episode, so it was actually less dense by the end than it might seem. It was just sort of hitting the big [beats] and then finding vignettes for all the characters that we knew we wouldn't be able to give full stories to just so we could get snapshots of where they could end up.
  • Dedication:
    • According to Rebecca Sugar, "Time Adventure" was dedicated to Adam Muto, Adventure Time's executive producer and Sugar's former partner when both of them worked together as storyboard artists.
    • Rebecca Sugar once again despite having her own show has come up with another song, "Time Adventure" for the series grand finale.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Willow Smith, a huge fan of the series to the point she named a song in her debut album after Marceline, got to voice Beth in the final episode.
  • Spoiled by the Merchandise:
    • Months before the official poster was given at San Diego Comic Con 2018, some members from the AT production crew received a t-shirt during the series' wrap party on November 2017. Said shirt contains an official artwork with Finn, Jake, BMO, PB, Marceline, Ice King, Fern (in his Grass Finn form), LSP, Gunter, Betty, Normal Man and the silhouette of GOLB floating behind all of them alongside his Tetrimino-like pieces.
    • The fact that the series is going to end with a war was spoiled on July 2017 via iTunes, several days after the end of Season 8. Subverted by the fact that the war is avoided at the very last second.
    • The promotional cover for the non-canon, "Season 11" comic continuation which was released at least a month before the finale, made it perfectly clear that Finn, Jake, Bubblegum, Marceline and Ice King would survive. Well, Finn, Jake, PB and Marcy. Almost none of the covers shows Gunther as the new Ice King.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • During the Q&A at the Los Angeles screening, Adam Muto revealed that a completely different finale was written at one point, but due to Cartoon Network cancelling the series earlier than expected (they thought they'd get at least one more season), the finale had to be rewritten from scratch. Some elements from the original finale were reused in the final version.
    • Originally someone was going to leave in the finale forever, but it didn't fit with the show's spirit. Some speculate that "Time Adventure" was originally a farewell song between Finn and Jake instead of a song used to weaken GOLB and his chaos creatures.
