• Completely Different Title:
  • In America the book's title was changed to "The Legacy" and the film's title became "Rape of Malaya".
  • In Japan the film's title became マレー死の行進:アリスのような町/Maree shi no koshin: Arisu no yo na machi, meaning "Malay Death March: A Town Like Alice".
  • In France the film's title became Ma vie commence en Malaisie ("My Life Begins in Malaysia"). The Italian title (La mia vita comincia in Malesia) follows suit.
• Remake Cameo: Virginia McKenna played Jean in the 1956 film and also had a role in the 1997 radio adaptation.
