• Colbert Bump : While not as large a "bump" as some examples, Tremblay's book gained some attention after Stephen King tweeted that it "scared the hell" out of him. King tweeted again when the novel won the 2016 Stoker Award.
• Truth in Television : Marjorie tells the story of a girl killed in a flood of molasses, an Ironic Echo of Merry's story of a cat being stuck in the same way. Marjorie then tells Merry the flood was real, and of course Merry doesn't believe her.
