New Testament SD Gundam Gaiden: Superior Saga (新約SDガンダム外伝 創世超竜譚) is a Cardass series in the SD Gundam Gaiden Series released in 2019.
The story takes place far off into the past of Lacroa, eons before it fused with Llion Cardzi to become Saddrac, to tell the story of how Superior Dragon came to be.
Its characters are based off of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, the Gundam 00 Sidestories, Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer and Gundam: Reconguista in G.
Tropes associated with New Testament SD Gundam Gaiden: Superior Saga are:
- Anachronism Stew: The setting of Superior Saga this time is set millions of years into the past, with cavepeople and woolly mammoths coexisting. However, it still contains all of the Medieval European Fantasy elements typical of an SD Gundam Gaiden work, and that's not even mentioning one character wielding an electric rock guitar. And THAT'S not even getting into the fact that most of the characters are all based off of Giant Mecha and keep the technological elements of such, but to be fair this is an SD Gundam work, so that's to be expected.
- Hollywood Prehistory: The setting of the first two arcs is more prehistoric than any in an SD Gundam Gaiden story prior, complete with Mobile Civilian cavemen and woolly mammoths.
- Origins Episode: This series serves as one for Superior Dragon, going into its creation and birth.
- Time Skip: While the first two arcs take place millions of years into the past, the third jumps ahead to after the events of Shin SD Gundam Gaiden Gold Saga.
