Tearjerker / The Maximoffs (And Friends and Family) vs The Multiverse! (And Sometimes With)

There's a reason the author considers it a comedic tragedy:

  • Wanda's deep grief over Pietro in the beginning of the series.
  • The End; From Peter genuinely feeling so alone in his universe thanks to being alienated from the X-Men and his father (and it's later shown in the sequel that this is the case for his other family as well) that he would rather live on the run with Wanda to the entirety of Wanda's story in Infinity War taking place and effectively destroying the happy momentum that she had had up to that point.
  • Peter's reaction to Wanda's death. Especially since he has learn this by her not coming back after a long period of time. He can't even bring himself to think about her in the chapter following her death until finally breaking down after arguing with Erik. Even the otherwise heartwarming moment of him calling Erik 'dad' is clouded with grief and desperation leading him to latch onto his father.
    • Erik's following chapter. His regret over not being in his children's lives and getting to meet Wendy. The reveal that Peter has developed depression thanks to losing Wanda. Even his assessment that Wanda is an imposter.
  • Wanda refusing to speak to anyone after the battle against Thanos, along with her knowing that all her MCU friends all have family to go back to where she does not, and her immense grief. She doesn't even go to Peter at first, too shaken by the events to move until realizing he lived out the five years without her.
  • Wanda and Peter being forced to say goodbye at the end of the story.
