Volume 1: Thus, She is Reborn
- The incident at Menou’s whole town is extremely tragic. Everyone minus Menou died and the girl responsible is revealed to have been a Lost One who complained lost control of her powers. It’s heartwrenching to hear her mentally collapse as she dusts off young Menou before she is unceremoniously murdered by Flare.
- Menou mourning Mitsuki and the realization on how many times she has done this before is sure to make some rather depressed.
- We get a glimpse of what it is like to be taught to be an executioner: young children being told, in no uncertain terms, that they are villains. They will deceive and kill any and all Lost Ones no matter how innocent or kind they are. They will be hated and feared by all and live a miserable and violent life. Some kids, like a young Momo, is horrified by these teachings. Others, like Menou, chose to embrace this lifestyle so that no one else would have to take the burden, which Flare finds patently ridiculous.
