This series is from the same author as The Law of Ueki, which already has some dramatic moments. However, Saike is what happens when said author decides to make a series with drama as the main focus, more so than action. It is primarily about how the protagonist Saike deals with his deep anxieties while the world does everything to make it difficult.

  • The series starts with Mikan's death, leaving Saike emotionally broken and also angry that someone full of hopes and dreams like her had to die instead of someone who did nothing with his own life like himself. Saike tried over and over to save Mikan by going back in time but when all else fails, tries to sacrifice himself instead, feeling like his life can finally amount to something.
  • The Healing God's village used to so poor they couldn't afford hospitals, leading to the deaths of many of its people. The Healing God had to use his ability to acquire money to save his people to the point he almost became a fetus but still determined to find some way to help his village. However, this devastated his granddaughter, Roma, having to watch her grandfather continue to sacrifice himself like this when she just wanted him to live a happy life.
  • Saike, Ana and especially Hizu, tried desperately to reach the Healing God to cure Saike from the damage his Oracle has done to him, but when they reached him, the Healing God's ability has too dangerous of a recoil for him to use anymore. Hizu was still determined to save Saike, no matter who he had to sacrifice but then Saike insisted they give up, willing to die, as he could not sacrifice someone like the Healing God.
  • Johan's true motives. Having met another Oracle Holder he fell in love with named Sumire who wonders what Oracles Holders are supposed to be in this world. The two, along with Silva, search for a box in the Mana ruins that may hold the answer but Sumire ended up dying of an illness before they could. To make matters worse, the other archeologists found out they were Oracle Holders and called them monsters, which Johan refused to accept as the answer that Sumire was looking for. So then Johan becomes ruthlessly determined to create a world for Oracle Holders, not just for his own sake but for Sumire, so that it would be the kind of world that would accept her.
  • Back since the beginning of the series when Hizu was inexperienced with friendship, says he wants to see Saike's final moments and over time, grew in loyalty to Saike and it's unclear if he even meant it anymore. Then during the climax, Hizu found himself choking Saike to death, waking up just in time to see what would be his final moments and does not take it well at all. Be Careful What You Wish For Hizu.
