Tearjerker / Miracle

• Patty blowing up at Herb for not even asking her before accepting the coaching job with the six months of barely seeing her husband. She has tears in her eyes when he comes to talk to her.
• The look on Ralph Cox's face when Herb calls him in to the office to be the last guy cut.
  • Likewise, Herb is just as sad about cutting Ralph. Herb himself was the last man cut from the 1960 Olympic team that went on to win the gold medal and knows exactly how it feels. You can tell it's tearing him up to do the same thing to another young player.
  Herb: I wish like hell I could keep you Ralph.
• Similarly, Jack O'Callahan after he gets hurts in the exhibition game against the Soviets. To have actually made the team and then potentially be cut because of an injury...
  • Luckily it didn't happen, but just imagine if it did.
• The looks on the faces of the Soviet players after they lost to the US. A combination of disbelief and pain at having lost to their greatest enemy.
