Tear Jerker / Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light

• Kaiba's theme, You're Not Me, has some pretty sad lyrics—no one understands Kaiba but himself, and if he could he'd throw it all away, but he still wants to do whatever he can to reclaim his lost pride. It's even worse with the implications that Anubis has a hold on his mind, as the final chorus switches from "Please take me as I am" to "Please, help me if you can."
  • Even before that, the song seems to reveal Kaiba might actually feel lonely.
    "You think I've got it all
    Everyone thinks I've got it made
    Well, how come my only friends
    Are the ones I pay?"
• Yami Yugi is near tears when Yugi's sucked into the Puzzle, and he angrily asks Kaiba if he has any idea what he just did. Kaiba brushing it off and laughing evilly makes it worse.
• Yugi and his friends witness part of the duel from inside the Puzzle, with Tristan remarking that it doesn't look good for Yami Yugi.
• When Anubis tells the Pharaoh that his friends have already fallen, Yami immediately checks to see if he's telling the truth. When he realizes Yugi and his friends are still alive, his voice is pained and near tears as he vows to fight to protect them.
  Anubis: The souls of your mortal friends have already fallen, trapped within your Puzzle.
  Yami: My friends...
  Anubis: Lost in a labyrinth of the dead!
  Yami: You're wrong! I can still sense their presence. And I will fight to defend them! (he raises his head again and faces Anubis) No matter what happens, I will not let your evil plan come to pass, Anubis!
