Tear Jerker / Wonder Woman: Black and Gold

• Cathy Perkins, who was last seen to the readers in Wonder Woman (1942) as a civic minded teen survivor of human trafficking, reunites with Diana, has one last team up with her old friend and then is revealed to be dying of cancer. The magic she was using to give herself a little more time is endangering those around her, and her idea of having Diana try to offset that won't work since it depowers her, so she breaks the talisman and tearfully accepts her own demise.
• "Beyond the Horizon": When looking for the remains belonging to the ghost currently attacking any Amazon that tries to leave their isle Diana expects to find a dead sailor. Instead she finds the remains of three children who had been abandoned at sea, the ghost being their big sister who tried so hard to get her younger siblings to help and is violently mourning their demise and still guarding them in death. Diana hugs the poor girl as she lets her know her baby brother did survive long enough to be rescued and she fades into nothingness.
• Badra, a one-shot villain from the Golden Age, returns in "Memories of Hator" having become a museum curator since Diana reformed her. Diana and her reminisce over their first encounter, where we flashback to her origin and how tragic it is when one realizes Badra is the Last of Her Kind and who witnessed the destruction of her entire planet (saved by her mother) when she was only a little girl. At the end of the story, Diana reveals the gift she left Badra is her crown that was given to Badra by her mother right before Badra was sent off in an escape pod.
