Death and Debts/Steel and Silence

  • In the party's trek through the sewers, they come across an Inquisition acolyte named Doug in a rather sad situation: He was the outcast of acolytes and had it bad for much of his childhood, no doubt all that being what lead to being The Stoner. Things seem to be turning around when the girls chat and smoke with him, Terryn even giving him his first kiss... Then Zara knocks him out. Leading to the girls taking off his pants and looking at his genitals while unconscious (though he does have a "nice cock" as Mousey put it), Madeline sticking a feather against his butt, stealing his belongings, and just leaving him to lay on the ground while bleeding. At the very least, Melody/Terryn felt bad for Doug, but with him not making future appearances he may very well had bled out... Oh, and according to the acolyte who actually likes Doug, he had a sister.
  • Terryn, while disguised as an enemy acolyte named Doug, tricks his friend into dropping his guard, even hugging "him" and has an opportunity to stab him. Slight problem: Melody has actually started empathizing with him and is desperately looking for a way out. She sounds incredibly sad as Arcadum points out that she should do what Terryn would do and Melody knows that her character would stab him. And indeed, Terryn tearfully stabs the man, who's horrified when he thought Doug had hurt him with Terryn revealing her true form to him afterwards and trying to assure him Doug's fine... which is made worse and mildly hilarious when Madeline, unaware of what's happening and assuming Terryn's in trouble. kills him from behind with a crossbow bolt as the acolyte swears that he will find Doug... She doesn't take it well.
  • While having a hilarious conversation with Hokky and Big Hoots, the girls eventually realise he's not the Shattered Star member they were looking for and soon knock him unconscious. This causes Big Hoots to disappear, because he was a familiar... And someone Hokky made up so he wouldn't be lonely. Many of the girls feel sorry for him upon finding out... but things quickly turn around when they get him to work for the Lord of Blades and pretend that they did have sex with him to give him a much-needed confidence boost.
  • The girls got very attached to several of the NPCs in "Steel and Silence," with one of the big ones being the Lord of Blades. Their characters frequently hug him and try to comfort him as he lies weakened from his wounds. So when he seems to slip into a potentially fatal coma, the girls are legitimately upset and poor Arcadum gets a couple earfuls. Thankfully, they managed to save him in the end.
  • The end of "Steel and Silence" was certainly a bittersweet moment. This is not only due to the campaign ending, but also due to everyone involved knowing that it'll be their last session for some time, as Arcadum would be busy setting up the Grand Crossover Finale extending across all of the groups that he had been running campaigns for over the last several years to be undertaken in March, and would be taking a well-deserved break for at least a few weeks after that. All of the girls teared up, grateful for the opportunity to play together, especially since no other DM would accept them.

Main Story Campaigns note

Otikata's Curse

  • When Lucine is conversing with Captain Chei in the drinkhouse, they discuss Lucine's stepping down from the military and how both he and the soldiers she previously commanded miss her. When he asks Lucine if she'll be meeting up with the soldiers at some point during the festival, the "Song of the Seven" playing in the background and Nyan's delivery of her response in particular really sells just how much history is there, even if we have yet to see it in much detail.
Lucine: I wouldn't miss it for the world.
  • In the shared Nightmare Sequence during their first night and the group comes across Kyse, when something comes out of his chest and flies away. Mei calls out to it, frantically trying to convince the party that the thing must still be him.
  • The titular curse finally rearing its ugly head. As it turns out, Otikata's Curse is a Hate Plague that can even turn family, friends, and colleagues against one another by amplifying the most innocuous of annoyances into an ugly, burning hatred worth committing gruesome murder over. By the time the party can get an idea of what's happening, it's far too late to do anything but run. While they're able to save most of the NPCs that they befriended at the start of the campaign, Tomba is most likely dead, and fates of everyone else, such as the soldiers Lucine formerly commanded as mentioned above, are at best uncertain.

Chapter 1 note

Among the Reeds

  • When Dik Cok is sneaking through Dozo Gourd's home looking for an image of his missing daughter for Ratticus to use to disguise himself as her, he comes across Dozo crying over the likely loss of his daughter while Dozo Koi Fo tries to comfort him; the two of them express confidence that the party will find her - even if it's a bit shaky - while the audience knows that they have absolutely no intention of bothering with any of that. And then Dik Cok pickpockets Dozo on his way out, snagging, among other things, a locket with an image of his deceased wife. Though there is some consolation in that, when the party is apprehended, the Vizier assures Dozo that the Spire's forces will look into the matter themselves.
  • Machio's whole situation is pretty heartbreaking. All he wanted was to do heroic deeds, become a great chef, and get some Ho'ask milk… But he had the unfortunate luck of ending up with the wrong travellers whom manipulate and gaslight him into working alongside them and following their plans, going from a cheerful, good-hearted Macho Man Randy Savage Expy to a bitter, angry man who has went down far enough to end up piling up corpses alongside Eli to form a ritual for Crowley which caused the infamous Depthar incident… (granted, it was to help save Dik Cok, but still).
    • Speaking of him killing Block, what makes it so much worse is that Machio actually tried to get Block to escape while the others were planning on what to do with him, but because Block misunderstood and didn't do so with the others coming in shortly after, Machio panicked and in tears, killed the Ho'ask man. From then on, the group would constantly remind Machio of what he did, adding to his guilt and leading him down a dark path…

A Storm Approaches

  • Upon meeting the Gambler Black, Mungus makes clear he's willing to sacrifice everything for power… This comes to bite him hard when while he gets a new familiar in the Smiling Saint, the deal causes him to lose not only Romulus, but his 3 winged serpents whom he and everyone else have grown attached to and even named, not helped by how the Smiling Saint has all three of their heads on it. Mungus makes quite clear his regret in this, demanding to get them back despite the Saint making quite clear that he can't… This is, no doubt, what leads to him rolling the dice in the bowl of the Resting Monk…
  • Lord Soma is distraught and angered when he realises the group not only stole the golden rice ball, but also desecrated the shrine of the Resting Monk, all after they not only took a moment to speak with him and he allowed them to rest in his presence with no consequences. Absolutely no one in the group feels bad for any of this and try to make it seem like he's overreacting. Then when they defeat him? Sock proceeds to piss on him before he dissipates.
