Tear Jerker / The Time Machine (2002)

• Alexander loses the necklace with Emma's picture on it when it drops out of his time machine and he sees it age and decay right before his very eyes, and then get picked up by an unknown party.
• Vox explaining to Alexander how he can remember everything. He recalls a little girl asking about dinosaurs hundreds of thousands of years ago, the last book he recommended...
  Vox: And yes, I even remember you. "Time travel, practical application."
• Alexander realizing he can never save Emma. And he apparently can't move on in his time period without her.
• At the end, Philby and Mrs. Watchit discussing Alexander's disappearance.
  • "I'm glad he's gone. Maybe he's finally found someplace he can be happy."
    Alexander/Philby: Home.
  • Earlier in the film, Alexander tells Philby how he sees the bowler hat as a sign of conformity, and how he’d like to knock every bowler off of someone’s head. At the end, as Philby walks away, he stops and looks back at Alexander’s workshop. He then removes his bowler, stares at it for a few moments, and tosses it away before continuing on in honor of his friend. Doubles as a Heartwarming Moment.
