  • It gets pretty depressing when the girls are shunned by everyone in Townsville and called freaks. It gets worse when Mojo Jojo tricks them into helping him take over the city, making its citizens fear and hate them even more. Even their own father, Professor Utonium, begins to doubt if they’re truly good, which devastates them so much that they fly off into space and plan to live out the rest of their lives alone on an asteroid. But the most depressing of all is that moment when Blossom looks at the Earth with large, heartbroken eyes, then buries her head in her hands and silently cries, as pictured above.
    • It doesn't help matters any when the girls are watching the news and hearing just what the citizens of Townsville think of them. These are little girls for crying out loud, and people are talking about them like they're monsters. The people do get better, but still... harsh.
  • It's also pretty sad to see Professor Utonium worry about his girls after he gets arrested for the collateral damage they caused during their game of tag.
  • Then there's the scene before that, where the girls think that the Professor hates them after he fails to pick them up from school (none of them realize that he was going to pick them up, but had just wound up being arrested for the aforementioned collateral damage).
Buttercup: (angrily) He's not coming. He hates us! He totally hates us!
    (Bubbles starts to cry)
Blossom: (trying to sound cheerful for her sisters' sake) No, he probably just got held up, or maybe the car broke, or maybe he just forgot, or... (sadly) ...maybe he hates us.
  • And right after that scene, there's the girls noticing the aftermath of their destruction.
  • When Mojo Jojo tricks the girls into helping set up his plan. After each task, Blossom turns to Mojo and says, "We did good?" The desperate hope in her voice to get some form of praise is downright heartbreaking.
  • At the zoo, Bubbles picks up a toy rattle a mother had dropped. Bubbles returns the rattle to the woman who snatches it from her without a word of thanks and and walks away saying, "I thought the zoo kept all the animals in cages". While Bubbles doesn't burst into tears as she usually does, she is clearly hurt by the woman's words.
