Tear Jerker / The Patriot (2000)

• When Susan finally speaks to her father.
  Susan: PAPA! Papa, don't go, I'll say anything!
• When Gabriel is killed and his father doesn't even know what to do with himself anymore.
• The church getting burned down as people desperately try to escape, while Anne weeps and her mother comforts her. Even some of the British are uncomfortable about this.
• "Violette was 12 and Pauline was 10. They had green eyes."
• Thomas' Senseless Sacrifice when he charges in to free Gabriel, with both he and his father forced to watch as he expired, triggering Benjamin's Roaring Rampage of Revenge.
• Benjamin memorializes Thomas by melting down his tin soldiers into musket balls, the last of which he uses to seriously wound his son's killer.
• One of Benjamin's old friends returning home to find his wife and child murdered by the British. And if that weren't bad enough, it is implied that the child tried to resist with the toy gun his father carved for him. He promptly blows his own brains out right in front of his horrified comrades.
  • Benjamin giving all his men a week furlough to see if their families are fine, even adding that those who chose not to return will not be thought of a coward or deserter. Everyone needed a break after what they witnessed.
• The Reverend's death, using his last breath to give Gabriel his rifle, only for Gabriel to die at Tavington's hand anyway.
• The Redcoat lieutenant who thanked Benjamin is clearly devastated with Tavington's actions at the Martin plantation. He must have had some idea of Tavington's reputation, as he gives an Oh, Crap! expression as Tavington rides up. He can only look on sadly as the British soldiers leave the plantation. This honorable officer is tragically killed along with the rest of his detachment when Martin and his two sons ambush them to save Gabriel.
• This dialogue:
  Benjamin: I forbid you to go!
  Gabriel: I'M NOT A CHILD!
  Benjamin: YOU'RE MY CHILD!
  [brief silence]
  Gabriel: Good-bye, father.
  Benjamin: (seeing Gabriel ride off) I'm losing my family.
