Beautiful Creatures
- Lena goes with Ethan to her first winter formal, something she's very excited about. She wears a beautiful dress (a gift from Macon) and a corsage from Amma. It all goes well... until she and Ethan do a photoshoot and half-frozen snow is dumped all over her clothes and hair. Lena is understandably devastated.
- Ethan's death.
- Macon's death, and Lena's grief and guilt over accidentally killing him.
Beautiful Darkness
- The visions about Macon that the Arclight gives Ethan. Ethan learns that Macon, like Lena, was actually in a relationship with someone he loved but was forced to break it off because he was an Incubus and she was a Mortal. Not only that—he was cursed to feel bloodlust, which meant that after his Transformation he would have the urge to feed on Mortals even though he didn't want to kill innocent people.
- Everything about the scene where Lila Jane saves Macon from death and traps him in the Arclight. Even the heroes are moved by it by the time Macon finishes recounting the story.
- Liv sacrifices her place among the Keepers to free Macon from his prison, something which breaks her inside. Once he hears what she gave up to save him, Macon is so moved by it that he gives her a home in Ravenwood and a job as his assistant.
- Ridley being changed into a Mortal by Sarafine, as punishment for betraying her and Abraham. Even though she's not Dark anymore, it's devastating for Ridley because she just lost a big part of who she was.
- Even John Breed gets a tearjerker. It's heavily implied if not stated that he didn't actually want to hurt Lena once they got to the Great Barrier and that he truly believed that going there would help Lena. He ends up being mind-controlled into helping Sarafine and Abraham with what they have planned for Lena.
Beautiful Chaos
- Olivia's reaction when John Breed decides to sacrifice himself to restore the Order.
- Lena's and Amma's reactions over Ethan deciding to jump off the water tower to restore the World Order. They are both hysterical with grief.
