Tear Jerker / Summer Eleven

• Gerry's birthday. They can only make contact through video chat, and the mom is noticeably shaken. It really hits home for anyone who's had a loved one far away. In a scene close to the beginning of the film, Lizzie's mother even states she worries about him all the time.
• When Gerry comes home crippled. Lizzie's mom is even CRYING as they renovate Gerry's room to suit his new needs.
• The soundtrack, which consists of somber piano tunes. This is especially strong at the beginning monologue. It adds to the film's rather depressing tone.
