  • "Mars" follows the story of soldiers sent off to fight in a war, and having to grapple with all the death and violence they see. In the end, those who do return home struggle to recover from their PTSD. The hauntingly beautiful instrumental makes it even more heartwrenching.
    Our nights have grown so long
    Now we beg for sound advice
    "Let the brokenness be felt
    Til you reach the other side
    There is goodness in the heart
    Of every broken man
    Who comes right up to the edge
    Of losing everything he has"
  • Very much on purpose, "Sorrow" is an emotional arrow through the heart. Fundamentally a song about depression, and the exhausting, helpless weight of living with it, its instrumentals and the plaintive, grieving tone of its lyrics accomplish the monumental task of personifying its subject matter as a song, while also ending on a few lines to remember for any listener who might be suffering with depression themselves.
    Where there is light, a shadow appears.
    The cause and effect when life interferes.
    The same rule applies to goodness and grief;
    For in our great sorrow, we learn what joy means.
  • "Saturn" is about losing a loved one, and the singer reminiscing about everything their loved one taught them and how they'll pass on the wisdom they learned to others.
  • "Six". Though it's actually about an Enneagram personality type, the song is much like "Sorrow" in that it can very easily be taken as pathos for those who live with anxiety, unable to enjoy life's most wondrous things without fearing the worst.
    I had the most vivid dream;
    My feet had left the ground.
    I was floating into Heaven,
    But I could only look down.
    My mind was heavy, run ragged, with
    Worst case scenarios, emergency exits,
    And the distance below.
    I woke up so worried that the angels let go.
    Oh, God, I'm so tired
    Of being afraid.
