Act I
- Dark's backstory, as revealed in chapter 18, is quite depressing: in the past, he was summoned by an Evil Sorcerer and forced to kill countless innocents. When he participated in an attack on the Snow Woman Village, however, he came across Arial Kuyumaya, an innocent little girl, and since even a Made of Evil shadow demon such as himself finds harming children abhorrent, he was going to let her go. Unfortunately, his master showed up at that exact moment and forced him to kill Arial... which immediately prompted Dark to turn on his master and kill him in a rage. With her last breath, however, Arial seized the Mind-Control Device that Dark's master had used on him and, becoming his new master as a result, ordered him to be free before he died. When Dark tells Tsukune and the others his story, they are all moved to tears.
