• Germaine initially becoming a washed up drunk after the events of the Lucifenian war, consumed with guilt over her part in Allen's death and all the lives her pursuit of revenge cost.
• Kyle’s internal speech during his argument with Germaine. The demon had been telling him in his mind how boring and trivial he was for the past few sections, with him angrily denying it. Then when Germaine urges him to give up on revenge and pursue his dreams instead, he laments that every dream he had (such as being a painter) was destroyed. He finally agrees that he’s a hopeless, trivial man with nothing to live for except revenge.
