Tear Jerker / Ogre Slayer

• The aptly titled "Chapter of the Ogre's Lament". The story revolves around a young maid who is constantly bullied and mistreated by the rich family she serves. This ain't no heartwarming Cinderella story, though. Instead of a fairy godmother she gets possessed by an Oni that goes on a rampage and slaughters everyone around her. In the end this poor innocent girl gets cut down by Ogre Slayer through no fault of her own and dies alongside the wicked Oni. Even the normally stoic Ogre Slayer himself is deeply saddened by the whole ordeal and is last seen somberly walking away towards his next destination. Roll credits.
• The first OVA ends with Moeko, the female protagonist, having a Heel Realization when her "children" end up killing her best friend and then turn on her when she begs them to stop rampaging. Fatally wounded, Moeko tearfully dies while Onikirimaru holds her, the latter having arrived too late to stop the ogres. After she dies, Onikiri puts her down and walks away from the carnage and into the sunset, and if that doesn't get you to cry, than the ending theme, sung by Takeshi Kusao (Onikiri's voice actor), will.
  • Want to know what's worse? The reason the whole massacre happened was because of Moeko constantly being harassed by other students due to her being "cursed" (in reality it was the ogres breaking things trying to find a host so that they could regain their power). Though at first Moeko welcomes her new children after butchering all but one of the girls who were tormenting her, upon unleashing them on a gang that she had purposely riled up to test up, the ogres quickly go on a rampage killing everyone in sight, having gained their full power and no longer having a need for their "mother".
