Tear Jerker / NF

  • A lot of NF's songs are powerful enough to move anyone to tears, but the one song that has broken nearly everyone that listens to it is "How Could You Leave Us?", the tragic tale of how Nate lost his mom to a drug overdose.
    • What makes this even more heartbreaking is the fact you can hear NF crying throughout the song.
    • Try not to cry when NF starts talking to his mom during the song's conclusion.
      Sometimes I think about like—
Sometimes I think about things like, you know, when I'd have kids and like
You won't be there, you know? You won't be there for any of that.
I'll never get to see you again.
Sometimes I wish I would have just called you, I wish I would have just picked up the phone, wish you were here.
    • The music video is even more depressing as it is a scene-for-scene reenactment of the song's lyrics, complete with flashbacks to Nathan and his siblings as children and concluding with his mom overdosing on pills.
  • “Mansion” is undoubtedly one of his most depressing songs thanks to its ominous melody and his discussions of painful moments in his life, such as being physically abused and when his mom died.
  • “Paralyzed” is pure Paranoia Fuel as he sings about slowly losing his ability to feel and how he can hardly recognize himself anymore.
  • "If You Want Love." A good song to listen to if you hate growing up.
  • While "Let You Down" isn't as gloomy as most of NF's saddest songs, its lyrics of Self-Deprecation and his failure to make his father proud are quite depressing.
  • The music video for "I Just Wanna Know" demonstrates some of NF's quite convincing acting skills during a tragic car crash that kills his girlfriend.
  • "Lost in the Moment" thanks to a beautifully sung melancholy chorus by guest singer Andreas Moss.
  • "Time," a song that shows a person's difficulties and insecurities about him/herself in a relationship, along with the mistakes made, and how painfully aware they are about them, but that if given enough time and effort, everything will work out. Equally saddening and heartwarming.
  • Absolutely everything about “Hate Myself”, the most evidence you’ll ever need that money really can’t buy happiness and it hurts not being able to find a purpose.
  • "I Miss The Days," a song about NF lamenting how much things have changed, including how much he himself has changed, and longs for the old days.
